Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Mali the top three gold producing countries in West Africa and together accounts for 33% of Africas total gold production. The economic viability and geographical potential have been the prime reasons for investors interest in gold mining in West Africa.
Ghana has overtaken South Africa to become the largest gold producer and exporter in Africa. Gold is a major export commodity for Ghana and contributes significantly to Ghanas revenue. This precious metal contributes nearly 48% of the countrys revenue.
