All Gold apart from 24c pure Gold contains Copper as an addition. If so it is going to be difficult. You cant do it at home. You need to use 50% Nitric Acid. The acid will dissolve the Copper but not the Gold. Then filter off the Copper Nitrate and you are left with a sludge of Gold.

If the gold can not be concentrated for smelting, then it is leached by an aqueous solution: . The cyanide process is the industry standard.; Thiosulfate leaching has been proven to be effective on ores with high soluble copper values or ores which experience preg robbing: the absorption by carbonaceous components which preferentially absorbs gold and gold cyanide complexes.
Therefore, one part of scrap gold was typically alloyed with three parts of copper before parting with nitric acid. Another method uses Sterling silver instead of copper. One part pure gold is alloyed with three parts Sterling silver .
The dissolution of both gold and copper in aerated cyanide solutions has been shown to be dependent on both the oxygen and the cyanide concentrations.

You must heat the gold containing copper ore until it becomes molten. With the gold being a heavy metal than copper, the gold will settle to the bottom and then you can pour off the copper.
I separated gold from gold+copper mixture and finally I am having a solution of copper nitrate affil. link to info/product on Amazon and now I wish to separate the copper from the solution. I don39;t know the separation process for separating copper from copper nitrate. Please guide me in this aspect. Prabahar Natarajan Student India
